Jack Black and Jack White

April 29, 2012

This past Wednesday on my drive to work, I’d finished listening to several songs from Jack White’s new album Blunderbuss and was about halfway through Terry Gross’s Fresh Air interview with Jack Black (Jack Black: On Music, Mayhem And Murder), when I realized that I’ve been exposed to more Jack Black and Jack White than usual in the past two weeks.

Jack Black and Jack White

I listened to Bob Boilan’s All Songs Considered interview with Jack White (Jack White: How I Made ‘Blunderbuss’) earlier in the week. The release of Jack White’s new album was hard to miss in my world. The album was featured on the iTunes store home page which had a streaming version of the album before it was released this past week. Several of the music podcasts I listen to each week (Wonderland and All Songs Considered) also played songs from the album.

Jack Black has been in all three of the movies my wife and I watched this month (Kung Fu Panda 2, The Holiday, and The Big Year – out of the three, my favorite was The Big Year). Terry Gross talked to Jack Black about his newer film, Bernie, Tenacious D’s upcoming album, Rize of the Fenix, and some of his earlier movies.

I saw Jack Black and Jack White together this afternoon as I was looking up links for this blog entry. When I visited Fresh Air’s page for the Jack Black interview, the page featured an advertisement for Jack White’s album Blunderbuss.
